I also know that it's possible to stealth patch games and even know how to do it. My pc drive is cheap, replaceable, and I rarely use it as it is, and I know that games typically burn data to the very edge of the disc, whereas normal drives prevent writing to that space, hence the need to flash it. I explicitly stated that I didn't want to jtag my xbox (or make any changes to it for that matter). I was asking if I can download the xbox NTSC iso, burn it to a disc, then use it to install directly onto my xbox hard drive (as if I had the actual disc), then play from the scratched disc (since all installs require the game disc for authentication). If I wanted to pirate games and play them on my xbox I'd just jtag it and would've never bothered with the question to begin with. You still missed the entire point of the question. On tomshardware, only legal things are supported. Im sorry if this isn't an answer you were seeking, however there are other forums and places where people wont mind you supporting something illegal.

I've had my discs ruined as well but I have either bought it cheap on craigslist or used one of these scratch remover back in the days. Im sure it happens to many but there are legal ways of fixing things. Since you are too keen with knowing that, it makes me believe you just added a story to avoid something like this.

Once you flash your xbox, you will be downloading more pirated games. Im not missing the point I just don't want to support something illegal. I'm fully aware of disc cleaning solutions but they aren't free and they aren't the subject of this question. They don't work but I've personally have used scratch out to repair so many of my ps2 games back in the days. It doesn't have to the same one, there are other brands that sell samething but do not buy those round devices where you put your disc in and spin them with a knob.
